KIYOME - Japanese Mugwort and Spicebush Incense

Kiyome (清め) is EREALIC's founding ritual. Kiyome means purification in Japanese, the burning of yomogi and kuromoji to clear a space before you begin your ritual. Rooted in a tradition that has used smoke for purification for over a thousand years in Japan. It is a coreless koh incense made from two wild-harvested botanicals from Niigata, Japan: yomogi, the Japanese mugwort that grows at the edges of the rice fields, used in purification ritual for over a thousand years; and kuromoji, the sacred spicebush of the mountain forests, known in Niigata as the tree of the mountain god.

Together they produce a smoke that is green, earthy, wild. Nothing like the synthetic incense you may have known before. Closer to the forest floor after rain. Closer to something remembered. 

This is not an air freshener. It is not ambience. It is a signal to your nervous system that the ritual has begun, that this moment belongs to you and that you are signalling to your body that you're transitioning into a sacred time.
